Lifter / lash adjuster differences??

Is there a difference between lifters?? currently replacing them on rear bank exhaust
and have come across one that seats in an o ring type seat in the rocker arm and the other type ( majority) just sit directly in the rocker arm??

Went to the auto stores and they are telling me they are / should be all the same when I show them the two types they give me a funny look?

They are all the same. At a guess, i'd say the black seal has come off in the rocker arm. Check all the lifters and make sure the black o-ring/seals are all present. If they are, it may be a stray one from previous replacement.

If it is, you should be able to get it out with a pick. If you're replacing them due to noise, this may very well be the cause.

Im thinking that but wasnt 100 % sure - makes sense will have another crack at it tonight with the pick. Thanks.
